Congratulations on your new tattoo! Now that you have the tattoo, it's essential to take good care of it to ensure it heals properly. Proper tattoo aftercare is crucial to avoid infection and scarring while preserving the longevity and appearance of your tattoo. Here are some essential tattoo aftercare instructions to follow:
Leave the cling wrap on for at least one hour, then gently remove and discard of the wrap.
Wash your hands before touching your tattoo, make sure your hands are clean to prevent introducing any bacteria.
Wash the tattooed area in warm soapy water, use your clean hands and avoid using a cloth or sponge, as they can harbor bacteria.
Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean towel or let it air dry. Avoid rubbing as this can irritate the tatto.
Once your tattoo is dry, apply a couple of pea sized amounts of aftercare to the area, moisturising into your skin. Let the air get to the tattoo and let it breathe. We recommend the YAYO range of aftercare products that can be purchased from the studio.
Do not re-wrap the tattooed area. ** Do not let other people touch your tattoo during the healing process.**
Be mindful of any dirty areas your tattoo may come into contact with.
Do not over apply aftercare, a thick amount of aftercare on top can suffocate the skin and cause infection.
Avoid Swimming or Jacuzzis for a minimum of 2 weeks, prolonged water exposure can affect the healing process.
Avoid direct sun exposure while your tattoo is healing, this includes sun beds!
Don't pick or scratch your tattoo, it's normal for your tattoo to scab and itch during the healing process.
Remember your new tattoo is an open wound, and it can get infected just as easily as a cut.
